History

Ramblers' Rest was my permanent home for over ten years.  I had intended to stay for only a couple of years, but fell in love with Hayfield village and the cottage in particular.  When I bought it, the seller told me that the house had really good vibes and that he was sure I would be happy there.  I took this with a pinch of salt as I thought it was just his sales' patter but now I believe him.

When I moved to a slightly larger home in Hayfield I was extremely sad to leave Ramblers' Rest and have found it impossible to part with it.  Hence, it is now a self-catering holiday home.

I hope my guests will all have happy times there.

Features of Ramblers' Rest

Charming holiday cottage ideally suited to a couple.

Cosy beamed living room with gas log fire, freeview TV, DVD, Music Centre, and a small selection of books, games, CDs and DVDs.

Well equipped kitchen with electric ovens and ceramic hob.

Double bed in large bedroom, with dressing room and en-suite bathroom. You don't need to bring a hairdryer, and an iron and board can be found in the dressing room.  There are plenty of hangers in the wardrobe, and additional pillows/blankets in case you need them.

Quality linen and towels are provided, and central heating and electric is included.

Pretty little garden for al-fresco dining, with a small table and two chairs. Barbecue and tools provided.  Smoking is not permitted inside the cottage, so you may want to escape outside for a cigarette.

Plenty of on-road parking nearby.  The cottage is situated on a narrow road but it is possible to unload/load outside.  You will need to move the car afterwards but there is always somewhere nearby to park.

Secure bike storage (2 bikes maximum) can be arranged just around the corner, at no extra cost, if required.

There are four local pubs within walking distance, and plenty of choices if you want to dine out.  Local takeaway restaurants in New Mills and Glossop will deliver if you don't feel like cooking or going out.

Hayfield is a lovely village with many interesting walks on the doorstep, and its position on the edge of the Peak District National Park makes it an excellent location for anyone wishing to explore the area.
